Capital Stewardship Campaign

Campaign Director: Larry

Pastor's Letter:
[Top]
Dear
Church
Family,
As we proceed through our Capital Stewardship Campaign, I
want you to know that I am glad to be the pastor of
First Baptist Church, Washington.
When I think about what God wants to do for us and through
us, I am filled with anticipation.
I am grateful that we are entering a program that will open
new doors of opportunity for our church.
We need more Sunday School space, a bigger and better area
for our youth, expanded worship center and fellowship hall, and
Falls Creek facility improvements.
Our campaign’s prevailing theme is,
"Blessed by the Past,
Challenged by the Future".
This theme challenges us to do the extraordinary, to give
"over and above" sacrificially, for the next three years.
The theme reminds us that just as God has done great things
for us in the past, he has great things in store for us in the
future.
This program provides all of us a wonderful opportunity.
It is the opportunity to know in a fresh way the blessings
that come through giving.
Jesus said, "Give and it shall be given unto you; good
measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over…" (Luke
6:38).
I earnestly believe that we, the people of
First Baptist Church, Washington, are ready for the great challenge
that the Lord has set before us.
Let us each enter into this great effort prayerfully and
enthusiastically.
Depending on Jesus,
Bro. Davies
Campaign Goals:
[Top]
The purpose of the Capital Stewardship Campaign is to provide each
of us an opportunity to participate in serving God by giving back a
portion of what He has already given us.
At the same time, we can also provide the Long Range Planning
Committee with funding estimates to help them in planning for the
growth of First Baptist
Church Washington.
-
VICTORY GOAL $400,000 -
Reaching our Victory Goal will
indicate that we are ready to step out in faith and follow God's
plan for expansion. We will call upon the recommendations of the
Long Range Planning Committee and proceed forward in building a
new sanctuary, or educational facilities for teaching God's
word, or perhaps expand Fellowship Hall in some way.
-
CHALLENGE GOAL $750,000 -
Reaching our Challenge Goal will show
that we are serious about our ability to minister and serve the
needs of our rapidly growing community. After completing the
recommendations given in the Victory Goal, we will again call on
the Long Range Planning Committee for direction as we
continually move forward in spreading the Good News.
-
MIRACLE
GOAL $1,000,000 -
Reaching this goal
will lay the foundation to start work on our Falls Creek Cabin.
The pledged money will go toward the recommendations made
by the Long Range Planning
Committee, the Falls Creek Cabin
Committee and decisions voted on by the church.
Reaching our Miracle Goal will glorify God as He provides
abundantly for and through His people.
The people of
First Baptist Church
Washington
and our community will see God's work and say, "Look what God is
doing!"
Frequently Asked Questions:
[Top]
This stewardship campaign is a spiritual journey.
If we, as individuals and as a unified church body, seek His
face and follow His commandments, we will be blessed beyond measure.
-
What exactly is the goal of this campaign?
We have a wonderful problem.
We have more people than we can accommodate comfortably.
We need more Sunday School space.
We need a bigger and better area for our Youth.
We need to expand our worship center and our fellowship
hall. And, we still
want to support our Falls Creek cabin (present and future).
This capital campaign can provide funds to fulfill these
needs.
-
Why have we changed the focus from
concentrating solely on the Falls Creek cabin?
Our needs here at home
have become more pressing.
The Falls Creek cabin is still a priority for our church;
however, we must provide for several of our needs at this time.
This change in focus was supported by the recommendation
of the professional consultant that our church hired to lead our
capital campaign.
-
What happens to the $30,000 that we
already spent on the Falls Creek cabin?
The $30,000 was a
retainer for the architect.
That agreement has no expiration date.
Whatever plans we need to complete our ultimate expansion
will be covered by that payment.
-
Why should I give?
How does this
affect my tithe?
Malachi 3:10 tells us
that we are to bring the tithes into the storehouse.
Tithing is an act of obedience, acknowledging that God
owns everything.
Please pray about what God would have you to give in addition to
your tithe, to contribute to our ministry's expansion.
Remember, He gave all so we could be part of His family.
-
How long will the campaign last?
The entire campaign will
only be a few weeks.
However, the time period to collect pledges will be three years.
During this three-year period, we will also follow up
with new members to give them an opportunity to participate in
the ministry.
-
What will be expected of me?
You will receive information that will spell
out the campaign.
But, the bottom line is to pray and to seek God.
Is He Lord of your life?
What does God want you to do to participate in this
ministry opportunity?
Will you be obedient?
-
Can I pledge a lump sum?
Of course you can.
If you want to give your offering any time during the
three-year period, that is fine.
Please note your intentions on your commitment card to
help the finance committee plan for the future.
-
Can I revise my financial commitment?
The commitment is between
you and God.
Although we need to be able to make plans based on expected
pledges, we realize circumstances can change.
Please contact the church's treasurer and complete a
revised commitment card.
-
Who will be asked to participate?
Primarily we are asking
our membership to participate.
However, we also have many faithful brothers and sisters
in Christ who are involved in our church, but are not members.
We welcome their participation as God lays the need upon
their hearts. We
hope to see this lead those non-members to join the church's
official membership.
-
How will my financial gift be used?
All monies given with the campaign designation
will be used to pay toward reaching the expansion goals of the
campaign.
-
How and when do I get to make my financial
commitment?
Commitment cards were
collected during the worship service on Celebration Sunday,
March 21, 2010. If you missed that opportunity, you
may fill out a commitment card at any time.
-
Will I have to sign anything?
You will be asked to
complete a commitment card.
The card will be used to track pledges and to plan for
future budgets. You
will not be contacted by anyone should you not make your pledge.
This is between you and God.
-
If I cannot give financially, how else can
I help?
Pray, pray, and then pray
some more. You will
also be given an opportunity to volunteer with some of the
committees that have jobs to do during the campaign.
-
Will
my contribution records be made public?
No.
All contributions are confidential.
Only the church treasurer and secretary know your
cumulative gifts and keep records to be able to provide donor
statements at the end of the year.
Only the total results will be made public.
-
Why launch this stewardship campaign
during this economic meltdown?
There have been many
economic downturns throughout our history.
In the 1920's, we saw the Great Depression.
We remember "Black Thursday" in 1929 when the stock
market crashed. In
the 1980's, home mortgages were over 20%.
Now, it's evident that we are going through the longest
recession since WWII.
But, we need to remember that God is in control now, just
as He has been since the beginning of time.
He has a plan that is bigger than any economic crisis.
If we have faith and follow His will, we will have
success.
